Just wanted to send a word of encouragement to the Abi developers. Last
Friday, I reported a few bugs and was later told that one had been fixed. I
downloaded today's "nightly build" and my excitement level for Abi leaped
tremendously. One of the bugs I reported was indeed fixed, and that one fix
made Abi infinitely more usable to me. In fact, today, for the first time,
I did *all* of my word processing work on Abi -- and, without a single
crash. Great job guys.
With some imagination, I have also found workarounds (some more cumbersome
than others) for most of the other bugs I have encountered. So, as of this
4th day of March, 2002, Abi is my word processor of choice.
One question. When I downloaded the nightly build today, I just downloaded
the "AbiWord.exe" file and put it in my "bin" folder without running an
install program. It ran flawlessly and, yet, the .exe file was only 1.3 meg
in size compared to the over 3 meg "official" release. Why the difference
in size? Obviously, I prefer the smaller size assuming it has all the
features I need.
