         I meant I'll manage (I hope) to figure glabels out, not the
errors; maybe what they're telling me is that it *needs* to be
connected to AbiWord and called from there?

         I dunno from haystack, though I've built the old-fashioned
kind, much less xbel or G_MAXLONG; are they things glabels expects,
and would get, from AbiWord?
