Can't spell check a document

Windows 2K
Installed: Abiword 2.2.2 & Tools

Language Australian, I have American.hash and British.hash, have also
tried this with US & UK English settings :-(

New documents - spell check works fine, auto correct underlines them and
after pressing F7 I get a dialog box with suggestions etc.

However with an existing document (Created with 2.2.1) there is no auto
correct and when I press F7 the first misspelled word is highlighted and
I get a message box saying "The spelling check is complete"

Yes, there are mispelled words in it :-)

Ideas ?
