Here's something more precise and consistent. Open a blank document. Set
to A4 landscape, set
to two columns, insert a text box somewhere, click show/hide, page size
changes to square.
Can others reproduce? Known bug?

Reset to A4, click show/hide, stays OK. Move the text box, click
show/hide, page size changes
to square.
