gettext can't really handle two strings that are equal in english, but
may be written in different ways in another language according to
context.
Suppose you had free and free in two places, where one stands for gratis
and the other is a member of the freedom family.
For gettext , _("Free") and _("Free") are one and the same string.
The way we translate (through the .strings files) is much cleaner since
it uses tokens, for instance, you could have: FREE_BEER="Free" and
FREE_SPEECH="Free" where you then would translate for
FREE_BEER="Gratuit" and FREE_SPEECH="Libre" when translating to French.
I don't know if there's other problems, but most of the times gettext is
good enough, and the only problem you may find is being very hard to
think of another original string.

I'm not really sure, its one of this files:
abi-extract.pl ui-backport.pl ui-extract.pl update.pl
